Description

A visual-development project to discover a fresh take on top-down racing games, similar to Micro Machines. Bold colors, striking shapes, and a unique hand-painted style resulted in a strong visual direction.

Our Role & Ownership

  • Our visual-development phase with a final 3D diorama and in-engine visuals for investor demonstrations.
  • Guided the client through artistic decisions, art direction, and early tech-art-related questions.

Client Needs

After building a prototype to prove the game mechanics and fun factor, the client was ready to showcase a demo to potential investors and publishers. Strong visuals were key to these presentations, but the project lacked artistic development. The client reached out to us to initiate and produce a visually stunning art direction.

Our Solution

We proposed our step-by-step visual development process, culminating in a small diorama scene built directly in the targeted platform, Unity. This efficient approach allowed for quick iterations and adjustments to the art style, facilitating open discussions about visuals and direction while directly involving the client in the design process.

The Result

By producing both the scene and a single vehicle with multiple skins, we gave the project a significant artistic boost. This first step in defining the look and feel, alongside the supplied images, enabled the client to incorporate the results into investor presentations, elevating the project’s appeal.
